Summary of Data • Human Service Occupations are expected both nationally and statewide to have a large number of openings in coming years. • Normally, the higher the educational attainment, the higher the salary, but not true for all occupations. • There are many jobs that are related to some of the human service occupations, which require some extra training, but offer higher wages and benefits. • Large number of degrees awarded for Psychology and Counselors, so why are jobs going unfilled? • There have been a steady number of job postings for openings around the state, but still many postings have gone unfilled for multiple months. Why? Is it a wage issue, a skills or experience issue, or is it because many of the people with the appropriate degrees do not work in the respective field of study? • The Unknown: How will human services along with healthcare services change in the coming years?
