3 Ways to Correct a Double Negative

Rule 1: Change the second negative to a positive.

Wrong: Jeremy couldn’t find nothing.

Nothing to anything

Right: Jeremy couldn’t find anything.

Rule 2: Take out the negative part of a contraction.

Wrong: Jeremy couldn’t find nothing.

Couldn’t could

Right: Jeremy could find nothing.

Rule 3: Remove the first negative word (verb change).

Wrong: Jeremy didn’t say nothing.
