THE INTIAL STEPS OF THE REVIEW OF NATIONAL PLATFORMS • Invitation from Margaret Wahlströmto HFA focal points and heads of platforms • Establishment of Working Group (7 countries) • And Reference Group (20 countries) • Information UNISDR at the European Forum for DRR, October 2012 • Sample questions from UNISDR • Revised questions by Working Group and the Reference Group Ecuador, Germany, Indonesia, Mexico, Philippines, Senegal, Sweden

  6. GOALS FOR THE QUESTIONNAIRE • Understandable questions • Quantitative and qualitative questions • Questions that could lead to policy recommendations • Relatively easy to answer • English (then translated to French and Spanish)

MORE GOALS FOR THE QUESTIONNAIRE • Use current knowledge of the HFA focal point and the people in charge of the national platform • Interesting enough to want to answer • Minimal consultation process to reduce time required • Avoid repeating the questions from the HFA Monitor national reporting • On-line user friendly questionnaire • Computer program for analysis functions

FROM QUESTIONNAIRE TO A REPORT • Develop questionnaire • Translated questionnaire • Put it on the Web • Follow-up and ask those that have not answered to do so • Collect, study and analyse answers • Initial draft report to Working Group and Reference Group • Working Group meeting in Geneva • New draft report for Global Platform

EXPECTED OUTCOMES OF THE PROCESS • Summary of the characteristics of the platforms today • An array of effective ways of working as a platform • Provide basic information about how to establish and run a successful NP • Input for updating the existing Guidelines for NP • Basis for policy recommendations for National Platforms worldwide
