  10. You Must Realize… • Your career is a life long investment • Quality time invested now will lead to greater job satisfaction later. • Must do the small jobs to get the big job! • Example: Jordan starts out as a loan officer but some day becomes the branch manager.

Interest Inventory Part 1 Assignment Complete in a Word Document: • Reflect on who you are: • List 5 interests you have. • Describe your personality in a paragraph. • What are your 5 most important values? • What are your 5 highest priorities in life? (Things you would like to accomplish during your life) • What are your goals for achieving them? (Short-term, Long-Term?) • Go to the following website: www.mynextmove.org • On the far right side where it says “I’m not really sure” click Start. • Complete the interest profiler step for step. • Define: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, Conventional. • Which 3 did you score the highest? Do you agree? Why or Why not? • Complete Job Zones Section. • Complete Career Section (Choose 3 Jobs that interest you and for each answer the following): • What are the Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personality needed for each job? • What Technology and Education are needed for each job? • What is the Job Outlook for each job?

Interest Inventory Part 2 Assignment Complete in a Word Document Go to www.truity.com/test/Holland-code-career-test Answer the 80 question inventory and when complete create an account to save the results. Read Sections I, II, and III then click on “Research Careers NOW” at the bottom. Use the information from Section II to select the appropriate category from the drop down menus at the top. Pick 3 careers that are of most interest to you and answer the following for each of the three careers: Watch the video for that career. List 5 job duties of that career. What is the work environment of that career? What is the work schedule for that career? What education is needed to enter this career? Are there any licenses or certifications required? What are the important qualities you need for this career? What is the average pay for this career? What is the job outlook for this career? What are the job prospects for this career? What are some of the Professional Associations for this career? List at least 2 other occupations that are related to this career?

For each of the three careers you researched answer the following: • Name and location of institution? • What’s your major and type of courses you will take? • How much will it cost per year? (tuition, room, board, books, transportation, etc) • How long will it take to complete this major? • Is there more than one school that offers your field? Who else? • Which institution seems to be the better fit you?
