  10. World institute on Disability • Founded 1984, • By Leaders in the independent living movement • University of CA, Berkeley Campus • Internationally recognized • Mission is to eliminate barriers to full social integration • Developed DB 101 in 2004

  11. How DB 101 got off the ground • 2000, WID did a needs assessment on work related service for CA residents with disabilities • Lack of consistent answers • People had wrong information • People didn’t know a lot about work programs

Benefits Planning Keys to Success • What are the correct rules for the individual's situation? • What are the ways to find the rules? • How does the individual apply the rules to his or her situation? • How timely and easy is the benefits planning process for the customer and his or her circle of support?
