  9. GENDER TRAINING • Selected comments from trainees: • Training helped establish that ‘gender’ is not about women. • Until now thought ‘women only’ seating and job allocation was discriminatory – now understand the issues more clearly • Now understand why information needs to be sourced from female as well as male household members – male’s are not aware of the aspirations and roles of women.

  10. BRAC – GBDC COLLABORATION The area (quantitative) coverage by GBDC activities with BRAC is modest, but considering the aspects of qualitative growth & sustainability of agro based technology adoption, the initiatives proved as highly positive development actors in rural Bangladesh. BRAC has developed a complete Aquaculture technical team of 20 development workers which was a prime objective of the collaboration between BRAC and World Fish (GBDC & CSISA-BD).

GBDC SUPPORTS TO DEVELOP THE TEAM • Effective communication with different development initiatives and also build linkages with the sources of good quality inputs (like quality fry, feed, PCR tested prawn PL & different stakeholders ) • Make the team concern about, Ag & water resource mgt., food security and climate change adoption through workshops, training, issue based meetings, campaign, field days etc, • Develop techniques to make linkages among with other BRAC financing bodies to meet-up the aquaculture farmers need.

  14. SUPPORTS PROVIDED BY G5 & CSISA-BD • Stakeholder workshop • Team meeting • Field based adaptive research activities • Beneficiaries training & Refreshers • Participatory adoption Trial (Demonstration) • Linkage Events (Field days) • Farmers exchange (exposure) visits • Provide extension & training material
