  1. Career Plan YOUR NAME YOUR OCCUPATION CAREER CLUSTER (also known as “field” or “discipline”) Refer to “Career Clusters” note

  2. DESCRIPTION Provide a brief, general overview of the occupation.

  3. INTERESTS & PERSONALITY Provide an overview of how your interests and personality are well-suited for the chosen occupation. Refer to “Who Am I?” assignment

  4. SELECTION CRITERIA Provide an overview of the criteria used to select the occupation. Refer to part A of “Occupation Critical Reflection” assignment

  5. RELATED OCCUPATIONS List any related occupations (minimum of three required) that you would also consider. These occupations will likely fall within the same field / career cluster as the chosen occupation. For example, related jobs to a teacher are: early childhood educator, educational assistant, professor, etc. Refer to “Career Cruising” or “National Occupation Classification” websites

  6. OTHER OCCUPATIONS List any other occupations (minimum of three required) that you would also consider. These occupations will fall outside of the field / career cluster as the chosen occupation For example, if teacher is the chosen occupation, other occupations could include: farmer, doctor, cabinetmaker Refer to “Career Cruising” or “National Occupation Classification” websites

  7. SPECIFIC DUTIES Provide a list of some regular daily duties/tasks. Refer to “Career Cruising” and “National Occupation Classification” websites

  8. WORKING CONDITIONS Identify the working conditions. For example, do you work outdoors? Do you work with children? Do you work as a part of a team? etc. Refer to “Career Cruising” or “National Occupation Classification” websites

  9. EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS What is required of an employee in order for him/her to be hired? Do you need certain qualifications or experiences?

  10. TRAINING & CERTIFICATION USE THIS SLIDE IF YOU PLAN ON ENROLLING IN AN APPRENTICESHIP FOR A SKILLED TRADE Program Description: Describe the training program that is required, as well as the steps to become certified. Deletethis slide if it is not applicable

  11. INSTITUTION & PROGRAM Name of Institution: Program Name: Program Description: Fill in the above fields for each institution (college or university) that you would attend. Copy this slide if you need to attend more than one institution. Delete this slide if you are completing an apprenticeship or going directly into the workplace. Refer to Ontario Colleges.ca or einfo.ca for more information.

PROGRAM DETAILS Enrolment:(identify how many students are accepted into the program each year) Grade Ranges (minimum grades):(identify the approximate “cut-off mark/range for this program”) Prerequisites:(required secondary school subjects – make sure you understand what the codes stand for) You should have one of these slides for each university or college program you are applying for. Copy this slide if you need to attend more than one institution. Delete this slide if you are completing an apprenticeship or going directly into the workplace.

  13. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Include any other program requirements or info that is important to gaining entry/remaining in program (e.g. a personal profile, a portfolio, etc. You can delete this slide if it is not needed.

  14. EARNINGS Identify starting wages, as well as maximum wages. You can list your information as a salary (how much you would make per year) or as an hourly wage (how much you make each hour that you work). Refer to Career Cruising website for information.

  15. EMPLOYERS These are examples of the places, businesses, and industries that employ people in this field.

  16. EMPLOYMENT RATE & JOB PROSPECTS What is the current employment rate? (Specify if the rate refers to all of Canada or a specific region) What are future job prospects? Is there a projected need for people in this field? Refer to National Occupation Classification for more information.

  17. RESOURCES Look at various resources including those linked to Career Studies website. You should use at least three sources of information. Reference each resource properly. Remember to reference each picture (unless it is clipart)
