  1. The Anti-Divorce Jesus Is Jesus Right Here?

  2. The Jesus Many Preach • Is against homosexuality (but less and less as more churches accept it) • Is against fornication (but less and less as more Christians commit it) • Completely ignores the multiple marriages of today • May as well have said nothing in the 1st Century • Forgives unlawful marriages and turns them into lawful marriages

  3. The Biblical Jesus • Was Against Adultery -Matt.5 • The sins that lead to adultery • Causing a mate to commit adultery v.30-32 • For Love In Lawful Marriages –Matt.22; Eph.5 • Was not for letting man put asunder what God has joined together – Matt.19 • Was for righteousness exceeding that of the scribes and Pharisees in the matter of divorce – Matt.5

  4. Jesus Did Not Take A Popular Position • The Pharisees Did Not Like It • They wanted free and easy divorce • They did not want the will of God getting in their way • Jesus’ own disciples did not like it • I don’t like it either, but accept it • Those who will value the kingdom of God above all else will accept this hard saying –v.12

  5. Positions Jesus Did NOT Take • God’s law of divorce is for disciples of Jesus only • A person could repent of stealing and KEEP the stolen property • Herod could repent of his unlawful marriage and keep Herodias – Matt.14 • The man at Corinth could repent and keep his father’s wife -1 Cor.5:1f • God accepts any and all divorces that are authorized by the state, the church, or the individual

  6. What Jesus Taught • Let not man put asunder what God joined together • Divorce CAUSES adultery • Causing Someone to SIN is a SIN • The Divorce Initiator: • Causes Her/Him to commit adultery • Spreads Sin (Whoever marries her that is put away.. AND whoever the initiator marries..) • Violates the will of God (Let no man put asunder)

  7. What Jesus Taught • Putting asunder what God did NOT join together is lawful and right • God did not join together marriages that constitute adultery or fornication • Homosexual marriages should be dissolved • Adulterous marriages should be dissolved

  8. Because of Jesus’ Teaching • The Pharisees wanted ANOTHER Jesus • Therefore they crucified the right Jesus • But, Jesus’ words will judge them in the last day – John 12:48 • Many today are crucifying afresh the right Jesus and inventing a Jesus more to their liking • But, we will all give an account for what we did with the words of the right Jesus

  9. Not All Can Accept This Saying • Those To Whom It Has Been Given – • The Sincere Seeker of Truth – Matt.13:11 • The Sincere Seeker of Righteousness • Those who love God – Matt.25:29 • Those Who Respect Who Jesus Is • The Pharisees Would Not Be Able To Accept This Saying • Those Who Do Not Love The Real Jesus….

  10. Those Who Can Accept This Saying • Those who know the REAL Jesus • Those who know the MOST WONDERFUL Jesus • Those Who Count all things as rubbish in comparison to knowing the real Jesus • Here is where the tire meets the pavement • All others will not be His disciples anyway
