  2. Goals Improve student achievement for ALL students in all academic areas as measured by state testing, district benchmark exams, and teacher created common assessments. Provide a quality education to develop our students’ learning skills in order to prepare them for college or career. Promote a safe and positive school culture by establishing connections with students, beautifying the campus, and working collaboratively as a staff and parent community.

What is the purpose of Digital Learning? • Digital devices can expand school to home communication and learning • Access to 24/7 learning for both digital literacy, and informational literacy • 24/7 learning allows students to personalize how much and how long they want to learn • Shifts the learning responsibility to be owned by the student • Prepares our students to be career and college ready in the 21st Century

Device Care • Most of the Netbooks are made with plastic and they are fragile • The devices should never be tossed while in a backpack • It is the students responsibility to keep track of their device • During PE, netbooks should be locked in their PE locker • Be sure there is nothing laying on the keyboard when closing the device. • Liquids should never be near the device • Do not store the device in hot areas such as in the car, by an oven, or heater

Insurance Protection • Student Insurance Partners is an independent company outside of RUSD • All claims go through the Library • The cost of each netbook device is $325 - $400 • The cost of an iPad is roughly $450 • Remember the cost of 4 books can exceed $400 • If a device is broken, your student will be able to use loaner computers or textbook for their core classrooms until the unit is repaired • Insurance can be purchased online or with the form we have provided you

  10. Student Dashboard • The dashboard displays: • Current year courses and teachers • Full teacher grade book data for each class including missing assignments • Attendance data – summary and detail • Grade point average and historical grade information • CAHSEE and CST scores

Haiku LMS How to get to Haiku:Go to www.rusdlearns.net Student Access: • The student username is stu + the ID number The password is Welcome1 • Class assignments, downloads, information and resources will be found here. Students may also be directed to upload assignments here. Parent Access: • There will be instructions on how parents can get on Haiku on our website.

Do not open suspicious attachments (docs, pics or videos) in emails or on Facebook. • Don’t open any attachment or click on links unless you know who it’s from and you were expecting it • Delete emails immediately from someone you do not know • If you send an email attachment to someone, let them know that it’s coming (some viruses replicate through names in your address book)

Prime TimeWhy should my child participate in Prime Time? • Studies have shown that after-school hours can be dangerous for children. • 29%of juvenile offenses occur on school days between 2p.m. and 8p.m. • Prime Time is an effective way to keep your child safe and supervised. • Prime Time is an opportunity to further engage students in academic, social, and physical activities. • It is FREE • Academic Hour- students will receive support on homework • Stop by the Prime Time table to fill out an application today!!!
