  2. HIGHLIGHTS Youth Initiative at ICCI. Youth Committee. National Youth Statistics Youth Entrepreneurship Development and National Youth Policy CIPE, ICCI & Ministry of Youth Affairs. Projects undertaken and completed. Youth Conference on Entrepreneurship Development & National Youth Policy of Pakistan. Business Development Plan Competition in collaboration with NUST. Other achievements. Future Plans.

  3. YOUTH INITIATVE at ICCI Only Chamber in Pakistan to take YOUTH INITIATIVE. For the betterment and awareness of Young Entrepreneurs, a goal was set to undertake a youth program on a permanent basis. Establishment of YOUNG BUSINESSMEN FORUM by ICCI.

  4. YOUTH COMMITTEE Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry formed a Youth Committee comprising following members, which organized Youth Forums and a National Youth Conference: Mian Waqas Masud Chairman Mr.Shaban Khalid Member Ms.Saadia Baasir -do- Mr.Raffat Farid -do- Mr.Zeeshan Khalid Masud -do- Mr.Ahsan Zaffar Bakhtawari -do- Mr.Hassan Farid -do- Mr.Ayaz Aziz Malik -do- Mr.Muhammad Tayyab -do-

Statistics (Population Labor Force Survey 2006) • The population of Youth 41.81 million 27% 67% of Youth living in rural areas • Literacy rate 26.27 million 63% • Labor force 20.32 million 49% • Students 6.89 million • House hold & females 14.03 million Labor Force • Agriculture 37% • Manufacturing 17% • Wholesale, retail and restaurants etc 15% • Community, social and personal services 11% • Construction 7% • Transport, Storage and communication 6%

  6. YOUTH ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND NATIONAL YOUTH POLICY Vision: • To develop & nurture entrepreneurship and promote entrepreneurial culture in Pakistan. Mission: • To take along stakeholders to ensure development of entrepreneurship culture and to look after youth related issues

CIPE & ICCI YOUTH COMITTEE ICCI in collaboration with CIPE undertook several initiatives working on Youth issues last year particularly with focus on entrepreneurship development because entrepreneurship offers an essential avenue for young people to support themselves and their families, grow businesses, to provide employment to others, and play a part in strengthening their country’s economy.

  8. PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN AND COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY ARE: Establishment of youth forums. Youth Conference (Policy Advocacy). Representation of Young Entrepreneur in the Executive Committee of ICCI Business Plan Competition. Mentorship Program.

  9. Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry held two youth forums, in which various issues concerning entrepreneurship development were discussed. YOUTH FORUMS

  10. YOUTH CONFERENCE OBJECTIVE: An opportunity to provide direct feedback to policymakers in formulation of the National Youth Policy . 130 students, young entrepreneurs, and decision-makers came together to develop the policy recommendations for the draft National Youth Policy of Pakistan.

  13. YOUTH CONFERENCE ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT & NATIONAL YOUTH POLICY OF PAKISTAN The recommendations were then presented to the Youth Ministry for submission in National Youth Policy. Most recommendations were appreciated by the Secretary. Most recommendations were even promised to be entered into the National Youth Policy One example was the National Business Plan Competition

BIGGEST CONSTRAINTS • Stability • Inconsistent policies • Lack of role models • Tight fiscal policy towards new entrants • High Interest Rates • Discrimination between local and FDI • Two different education system creating inferiority complex • Harassments at the hand of Government employees • No system in place for the revival of Sick Industry

Business Development Plan Competition in collaboration with NUST Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry organized Business Development Plan Competition in collaboration with NUST, in which MBA students gave presentations and floated innovative ideas for starting various kinds of business activities. In this competition, CEOs of multinational companies were also invited, who greatly appreciated initiative of ICCI and NUST.

  16. Selected as Jurry Members of National Youth Award given by Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani. National Business Plan Competition. Young Members of ICCI selected for Representation to other countries and on International Forums. Commonwealth Asia Regional Capacity Building Workshop on Youth Entrepreneurship China Youth Exchange Program OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS

  17. Our Future plans: • Preparation of a study report in collaboration with CIPE about National Youth Policy • In next couple of months ICCI is organizing two Seminars on following topics: • All facts for entering into a new business • Networking & it’s worth • Young entrepreneurs exchange programs with foreign Chambers • Coordination with various National and international Youth Forums • Organizing Business Development Plan Competitions • Publication of magazine highlighting youth issues • Mentorship Program • Incubation Center
