  2. Aim of eL Programme The aim of the JISC e-learning programme is to enable UK further and higher education to create a better learning environment for all learners, wherever and however they study, in order to realise the vision outlined below.

  3. eL Vision 2008 – 2012 The vision is of a world where learners, teachers, researchers and wider institutional stakeholders use technology to enhance the overall educational experience by improving flexibility and creativity and by encouraging comprehensive and diverse personal, high quality learning, teaching and research.

  4. By 2012 within this environment Learners and Teachers are using a mixture of institutionally-provided and user-owned  technologies in a confident and effective manner; Course teams are effectively exploiting the available technology in all aspects of course design, development and delivery; Technology rich physical and online learning teaching and research spaces are accessible and flexibly designed to reflect an understanding of the learning styles preferences and diversity of their users; A wide range of learning resources is freely available, easily discovered and routinely re-used;

By 2012 within this environment There is widespread deployment by institutions of flexible technical infrastructures that take advantage of service oriented approaches and of shared services; Institutional decision makers are making realistic and effective choices about the deployment of proprietary and/or open source software; National, sectoral, and institutional e-learning strategies in further and higher education are aligned; and agencies are working confidently in partnership for the benefit of the whole sector;

E-Learning Definition • e-Learning the use of ICT to enhance the student learning experience, whether in direct support of learning OR in support of other core processes on which the student experience depends (e.g. administration, research, curriculum development, strategic planning or development of the ICT infrastructure and information environment).

  7. Cross Cutting Themes In order to be successful, the adoption of technology should be integrated at :- • Strategic, • Technical • Practice

Activity Areas Domain Areas – e-portfolio, e-assessment, technology enhanced learning environments, e-administration, learning resources and activities • A way of chopping-up complex world to get a better/detailed understanding • Specific focus for Evaluation, Model, Create, Analysis activities • Crossover come together in larger institutional based exploration projects. (ie HE in FE or Cross Institutional project for LLL)

Communication and Dissemination • Learning Spaces briefing – in packs • Admissions briefing - launching a the JISC conference • Regional Pilot stories – launching at JISC conference • e-Portfolio infoKit and publication • infokit launching in June, • publication at ALT in September. • Supporting workshops later in the year.

  10. Calls Just started • RepRODUCE – 19 project funded to re-develop course module using external content. Just Out :- • Identity management for lifelong learning in UK higher and further education • Exploration of the role of e-portfolios in formative and summative assessment practices • Study on timetabling and resource scheduling • Formative Assessment Process Modelling Coming Up – end April 2008 • Curriculum re-design – the use of ICT
