  1. So you are a Delegate for Minnesota Emergency Nurses! What does this mean?

  2. How did I get here?

  3. “Delegate Packet” your best friend!” • Did you get one? • Great Information • Schedules and Locations • Procedures • Bylaws and Resolutions • Read it and bring it with you!

  4. Bylaws vs Resolutions What's the difference? • Proposals to amend ENA Bylaws must include the following items: title; exact text changes; amendment rationale; financial considerations; and names of the sponsors. Further information on creating proposals will be available from ENA headquarters. • Resolutions may be submitted by the ENA Board of Directors, ENA committees or work teams, Journal of Emergency Nursing editorial board, a state council or chapter, or by an active ENA member. All resolutions must be compatible with ENA’s purpose, mission, values, objectives, federal and state laws, and financial soundness.

  5. New this year! • Numbered keypads will be assigned to each delegate. Each delegate is responsible for checking out his or her own keypad. The number of keypads checked out by delegates shall serve as the number of delegates present for purposes of establishing the quorum. • Revision Process!

  6. So you want to talk! • Roberts rules, they are the key! • A review is in the handbook. • See the specific topics!

  7. Voting • You represent Minnesota Emergency Nurses, currently 1 delegate for 50 Minnesota ENA members. • Do you vote as the group decides or as you want?

  8. How do I get reimbursement from the State? • Eligible receipts are airfare and hotel up to $600 • Must have a MN ENA reimbursement form sent to State Treasurer! See copy, or on the MN web site: www. minnesotaena.com • Must be submitted within 30 days of return from General Assembly. • Submit to : • Dede Koenekamp • 2523 Mayfair Ave • White Bear Lake MN 55110

  9. Other costs? Meals, Transfers, parking etc • Your local Chapter may be offering to pay a “per-diem”, check with your Chapter President and Treasurer for information.

  10. Mentors or “oh Help!” • You should sit by a “experienced “ delegate from MN. Your Chapter President and State President are good resources. • They will help you with unfamiliar terminology and situations.

  11. What to wear? • Business casual, bring a sweater or long sleeves! • MN ENA shirts ?

  12. Afterward • You will be asked to share your experience at your local Chapter, and you should spread the enthusiasm with your peers in Emergency Nursing. They are the people you represent!

  13. What are the issues? • Lets review, there are several which are controversial. Please refer to the delegate handbook!
