  3. INTRODUCTION Meeting Purpose • Hear public comments on proposed secondary suite recommendations with respect to: • Proposed Changes to Zoning Regulations • Continuing existing business licence and bylaw enforcement practices

  4. OVERVIEW : KEY QUESTIONS What? Proposal toallow Secondary Suites meeting certain criteria: • In single family detached dwellings in the R1-A, R1-B and R-2 zones: - Option a: built before 2002 or - Option b: buildings of any age • Not require an on-site parking stall for a secondary suite

DEFINITION A Secondary Suite is: • A special type of suite permitted in a single family detached dwelling • The suite can be up to 40% of habitable floor area or a maximum of 90 m2 (970 ft2) • Cannot be strata-titled • Safety and construction aspects regulated through special provisions in the Building Code • Ceiling height, fire separation, and sound control
