  2. Focus of the Website • This website is designed to teach the similarities and differences between Mars and Earths geological characteristics.

  3. Volcanoes on Earth and Mars • On Earth, the heat, pressure, and movement of the Earth’s interior provides active volcanoes. • The activities of active volcanoes warms the planet and supports life. • Very little, if any volcanic activity exists on Mars.

  4. Faults on Earth and Mars • Earth’s Faults are a sign that the lithosphere is moving, which maintains a comfortable temperature to support life. • The Faults on Mars were formed when the planet was still cooling. • There is no fault activity on Mars.

  5. Rivers on Earth and Mars • Rivers on Earth flow under and above the surface moving minerals around to support life. • On Mars, there are no rivers, only frozen ice under the soil and evidence of ancient rivers.
