  3. How they changed? • What did they do? • What did they say? • What did others say about them? • Conflict- external and internal • Contrast – between characters • Imagery – blood, sleep, sickness and disease, darkness, clothing

  4. More or less admirable (choose 1) • Synonym(different word, similar meaning) • Antonym (opposite meaning) • Synonyms for admirable - commendable, deserving, excellent, laudable, meritorious, praiseworthy, valuable, wonderful, worthy • Antonyms for admirable – contemptible, despicable, detestable, loathsome, hateful, repugnant, repulsive, shameful, unworthy

  5. List the main actions, what they reveal about Macbeth and how he changed. List the main quotes, either in soliloquy (speaking ones thoughts while alone) – where you get to know his real thoughts, or to other characters. Who said? What context? What does it reveal about his change? Plan your sentences for each paragraph on how he changes – match up the actions and quotes and analyze what they reveal.

  6. KEY WORDS Protagonist – The main character in a play around whom most of the action is based. Tragic hero – A tragic hero has the potential for greatness, but is doomed to fail. Hubris – The flaw that leads to the downfall of the tragic hero. Catharsis - (n) or cathartic (adj), a purifying or figurative cleansing of the emotions.
