  3. Traditional Foods

  4. Thanksgiving meal begins • Many recipes are handed down from generation to generation. • There are often family traditions created in the way certain dishes are prepared. • The meal usually begins with hors d’oeuvres such as cheese and crackers, olives, stuffed mushrooms, and fancy nuts and wine and cocktails.

  5. The main meal • Roasted turkey is the main entrée of the meal, with many, many side dishes including mashed potatoes, green beans with almonds, butternut squash, gravy,chestnut stuffing, salad, yams, rolls, and much much more.

  6. Thanksgiving meal and family at the dining table

  7. Thanksgiving Day Activities • Families gather all together to visit with one another and celebrate the day. • The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC is a time honored tradition for many people

  8. Watching football games • Many families will watch NFL pro football games on tv, and many families will have their own touch football games in the backyard

  9. It’s all about families spending time together, and napping after the football and great Thanksgiving feast!!

  10. Black Friday • This is the start of the holiday shopping season. Many stores will open shortly after midnight on Friday and thousands of shoppers will be out looking for great bargains!
