The UIAA Mission Statement…The UIAA promotes the growth and protection of mountaineering and climbingworldwide by:- preserving their spirit and traditions - advancing safe and ethical mountain practices - supporting youth participation and the Olympic movement- promoting responsible access, culture and environmental protection. The strategic plan: How will the UIAA achieve the goals of its mission statement and serve the member federations? The questionnaire to federations: - What are the expectations of the federations from the UIAA? - Do the services that we offer fulfil the needs of these federations, especially the smaller ones? The proactive involvement of member federations will determine a unified vision of our future and our destiny.

Fribourg, VMI, B‘VM The UIAA Strategy Process is a road map to a transparent, predictable UIAA, serving the needs of their members & stakeholders The 5 Steps of the UIAA Strategy Process COLLECT PREPARE STRATEGIZE EXECUTE MONITOR • Collect data on format and structure of survey • Plan and manage conference calls, whenever necessary • Invite External Project Team (PT-E) • Define countries / Members participating • Briefing of project coach • If required: President‘s call in advance • Prepare commitment to federations and stakeholders • Feedback Survey to all member federations • Analyze current “as-is” situation • Jointly define future situation (“to be”) • Define S.W.O.T and actions to be taken • Breakdown strategy (10 years horizon) in foreseeable time lines, more-year planning (e.g. 4-years) • Breakdown issues in smaller parts, called work-packages • Prioritize work-packages • Assign WP to working groups/ commissions with objectives, duties and timelines • Prepare overview of all WPs covering open issues. • Organize staff work packages. • Regular update on progress to members and stakeholders • Setup measurement of progress strategy and implementation • Regular feedbacks to stakeholders about progress Input Sources Participants Manage Expectations Results Monitor Output Olympic Movement Monitor overall progress with multi-project management • Large / Developed Members, e.g. CAI, FFCAM, SAC, ... Anticipate expectations in advance using available resources Closer relations and improved support of stakeholders Progress information for UIAA stakeholders • Former or “Not-Yet” Members, e.g. DAV, OeAV, ... Prepare on expected outcome Search for supporters of process Communication strategy and planning for stakeholders • Representatives of regions (Asia, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Americas) Adjust needs according to resources Action and project plan with priorities & resources aligned Breakdown of strategy in a more-year planning (3-4 years) Overview about all ongoing projects and priorities Projects finalized or in progress with clear timelines and aligned resources
