  2. Welcome! • Introduction of Pacific Metrics staff • Introduction of LDOE staff • Purpose of workshop: • – Provide an overview of the EOC Tests system • – Allow participants to complete key tasks in the system 2

EOC Tests – Upcoming Administrations May 2011 • Algebra I*, English II, Geometry, and Biology operational tests • English III field test • *Applied Algebra I for students enrolled in the Applied Algebra I course • Summer 2011 Retest (Algebra I and Applied Algebra I ) • Registration: June 20–24 • Test administration: June 28–30 3

  5. Required Student Participation All public school students (including students in charters and lab schools) completing one of the following courses in May 2011 must participate in the test administration. • *Applied Algebra I for students enrolled in the Applied Algebra I course

Test Accommodations for Students With Disabilities • Large Print • Online accommodated form • Provides a larger type-size that may be adjusted by students • Tests Read Aloud • For operational tests, an online accommodated form provides audio. • For field tests, a script must be ordered from LDOE to read aloud to students. • Braille • Provides students with a braille version of the test • Must be ordered from Pacific Metrics • The test administrator must enter student responses online.

Test Accommodations for Students With Disabilities (cont’d) • Communication Assistance • A script is provided to use for signing or cueing the test to students who are hearing-impaired. • Script must be ordered from LDOE. • Students must test in a small group. • Answers Recorded • Allowed for students who are unable to use a keyboard or write responses • Administered individually to allow the student to dictate or sign their responses • Assistive Technology • Calculator may be used for entire EOC test if an accommodation.

Test Accommodations for Students With Disabilities (cont’d) • Extended/Adjusted Time • Student must be given sufficient time to respond to every test question. • Tests must be completed within scheduled testing dates, including makeup testing dates. • Individual/Small Group Administration • For students requiring more attention • Maximum of 8 students • Transferred Answers • Allowed for students who are unable to use a keyboard • Test administrator must enter responses online exactly as student wrote them. • Other • Must not breach security or purpose of test

  9. Test Accommodations for LEP Students • Tests Read Aloud • Extended/Adjusted Time • Individual/Small Group Administration • Provision of English/Native Language Word-to-Word Dictionary (No Definitions) • Test Administered by ESL teacher or by Individual Providing Language Services

Online Demonstration Site • Available to District and School Test Coordinators, Teachers, test administrators, and students • Allows administrative users to practice registration and test administration tasks • Allows students to complete a sample test to become familiar with the EOC Tests system interface • Provides ability to create training accounts for school-level workshops or independent trainings • Account Creation Code: EOCDemo123

New System Features (December 2010) • Added Multi-Race Ethnicity Category • Added Retest Classes for each subject area • Automatically populates potential retesters • Added a report that lists all Special Ed, Section 504, and LEP students that have NOT had accommodations assigned • Modified student testing environment • Moved resources and tools • Added an undo/redo feature for constructed-response items • Added a message informing the student if his or her Internet connection is dropped 14

New System Features (May 2011) • CSV Grade File • Allows School Test Coordinators and Teachers to generate a CSV file similar to the class report • Technology Coordinator Menu • Allows District Technology Coordinators access to school scheduling and registration information via the EOC Tests system • NEW EOC Browser is available from the DTC, STC, and Technology Coordinator menus. The browser may be downloaded prior to registration. • The old version of the EOC browser (purple icon) should be removed and anew version must be downloaded to all computers that will be used for testing. The new version has a copper icon.

Technology Requirements • To deliver EOC tests on PC and Macintosh computers, the following must be configured on each computer used for student testing: • Windows PC • Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, XP, or 2000 • High-speed access to the Internet • Microsoft Internet Explorer, version 6 or more recent • Java scripting enabled in Internet Explorer • Adobe Flash Player, version 8.0 or more recent • Adobe Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) Viewer 3.03 • 1024 × 768 monitor setting (optimal); settings below 800 × 600 not recommended 18

Types of EOC Tests System Reports • Standards-based reports (include scale scores and achievement levels) • Algebra I • English II • Geometry • Raw-score reports (include number and percent correct) • Biology (Standards-based reports for Biology will be available in September 2011.) • Field test reports (include raw score for multiple-choice items only) • English III NOTE: Reports from Previous Administrations are available from the DTC, STC, and Teacher menus under Reports tab.

Student-level Reports • District Test Coordinators have access to district- and school-level reports for all schools in their district. • The following student-level reports become available to the District Test Coordinator approximately four weeks after an administration. • Student Report • Student Item Analysis Report • Class Report • School Report • School CSV File • District CSV File
