  1. Douse the Flames KaizerMabhilidiNyatsumba Eric Magaw/ John Dahlberg

  2. Title I think the author is talking about how aids is like a wild fire that is spreading throughout all of Africa. By saying Douse the Fire the author is talking about stopping the spread of AID’s.

  3. Paraphrase They want us to learn that Africa has poor leaders. Because in the beginning The speaker was talking about the war. Then The author begins to talk about aids. And then at the end the speaker makes a reference to how it is the government that is causing the problems.

  4. Connotation The meaning could be that AID’s is a fire that is spreading because no one is taking precautions to stop it. To douse the fire would be ones with power to educate those who have none.

  5. Attitude I felt that the speakers attitude was depressed but mad at the government in Africa for not doing anything. But in this story the author and speaker are the same people.

  6. Shifts In the beginning of the story the author seemed to be talking about a war. Then in the middle of the story the speaker was talking about AID’s. Then in the end he/she was talking about how all of this was because of their government. The whole story was a big metaphor.

  7. Title I still believe the same as I did before. Just now I have a better understanding about how the person/persons felt.

  8. Theme I believe the theme was AID’s is bad. And so is war. So don’t get/ get involved with either.
