Responsibilities • Promote Membership Development and diversity • Development, implementation and evaluation of programs intended to recruit new members, retain existing members and recover members • Analysis of membership statistics • Support the Senior and Fellow membership program • Create new MD products that fits the Region • Enhancement & maintenance of the MD Web pages • Communicate member feedback to IEEE MD committees 2

  3. Key Activities in 2009 • Participated in MD meetings • Developed and distributed Media to promote MD resources • Conducted workshops and seminars to increase IEEE membership awareness • Special visits to local sections • Presented Membership Benefits Module 3

  5. Dec-09 – Active Membership by Region Record Year for IEEE : 397,001 Region 4 Membership Change from 2008 to 2009: • Professionals: ( - 1%) • Graduate Students: +27.3% • Undergraduate Students: +14.1% • Total: +2.4%, Second Best Change in the 6 US Regions 5

MD Team Strategy • January through April • 85% effort - Retention / Arrears Recovery • 15% effort - Recruitment • May through August • 15% effort - Arrears Recovery • 85% effort - Recruitment • September through December • 85% Recruitment • 15% Renewal monitoring Recruitment is now the primary growth-driver of membership 7

MD Team Strategy • Maintain total membership count at same level as prior year • Recruit new (not a member previously) higher grade members above the Section’s total recruitment from the prior year • Migrating members – those who moved from one section to another do not qualify • Use SAMIEE for MD analysis in your area and reaching your membership 8

Member-Get-a Member Program • Member-Get-a-Member rewards current IEEE members for referring new members to join. • Members receive $15 per higher grade member recruited. • $2 per student member recruited • HG members cannot earn awards on students recruited. • Annual max award of $90 per member 9

Plan for 2010 • Develop Membership Development Plan for R4 • MD Chair in every Section • Membership Kit  for all sections • Promote the of use SAMIEEE and access to the MD Virtual Community • Promote Membership Development .  Discuss member benefits and the value of Networking • Visit Student Branches and discuss the career benefits of IEEE membership and life after graduation 10

Plan for 2010 (Ctnd) • Participate in the MD meetings. • Work with local Societies to support a membership desk at their conferences. • Make use of the IEEE-USA Membership Incentive and IEEE membership incentives. • Deliver MD Training at every Region Conference and meeting. • Promote Senior Member upgrades. • More communications with Section MD Chairs. 11
