  3. Erasmus Mundus so far More than 1,300 HEIs (45% Eur; 55% non Eur) More than 30,000 scholarships (students, young researchers, scholars and univ. staff; + than 90% non Eur) More than 75% of the top ranked EU HEIs are involved in EM. Budget of approx. 1 billion euros for the 2009-2013 period

  4. What is an EM Joint Programme? An integrated programmeat masters (1 to 2 years) or doctoral (3 to 4 years) level Jointly designed, delivered and managed by a consortium of HEIs representing at least 3 different EU/EEA countries and, optionally, non EUR HEIs; That includes a mandatory mobility component; That is fully recognised and leads to the award of a double, multiple or joint degree; That aims at attracting the best students, doctoral candidates and scholars, worldwide

EM Action 1 - Sustainability • EM grant to be envisaged as « seed funding » (up to 10 years) • From (/prior to) the start of the programme • Secure « own » funding / support • Involve stakeholders (public / private; in and outside Europe) • Continuous evaluation of relevance, excellence, attractiveness of the programme

EM Action 1 - Employability • Coherence between objectives, expected learning/professional outcomes, individual/sectoral needs and expectations • Implication of non educational actors in the programmes evaluation • Learning by doing (internships, fieldwork, project based activities), • Employment oriented skills and competences • Non-European dimension.

  11. EM Action 1 - Transparency • Within the consortium and towards its participants • On the joint programme’s content and delivery conditions, • On the application, selection, enrolment, evaluation, degree awarding, etc. procedures • On both parties obligations, rights and expectations
