  2. The Beginning • Barack Obama was born on August 4, 1961. His mother was white and born in Kansas and his father, a black man born in Nigeria in Africa.

  3. Birthplace • Barack Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. From ages 10 till 18 Obama was raised by his maternal grandparents in Hawaii.

  4. College years • Barack Obama received his Bachelor’s degree at Columbia University here in New York City. Obama entered Harvard Law School in late 1988. He was selected as an editor of the Harvard Law Review at the end of his first year and president of the Law journal in his second year.

  5. Family life • Barack Obama married Michelle Robinson were married in October of 1992 and have two daughters, Malia and Sasha.

  6. Important fact • On January 20, 2009 Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States and the first African- American.

  7. First Biggest Moment • Obama made the keynote speech at the 2004 Democratic Convention. He was a huge success saying, "There is not a liberal America and a conservative America; there's the United States of America."

  8. What I learned • Barack Obama’s success is an inspiration for all Americans regardless of their ethnic background.
