Timeline Events • Late 1300s – Wycliffe is the first to translate the Bible into vernacular • 1415 - Jan Hus is burned at the stake for heresy • About 1450 –Gutenburg invents the printing press • 1517 – Martin Luther posts 95 Theses • 1530 – John Calvin breaks from the Catholic church and starts the Calvinist church • 1534 – Henry VIII creates the Church of England • 1545-1563 – Council of Trent leads to reforming the Catholic church & fighting Protestantism • 1559 – Elizabeth I makes the official Anglican Church Late 1300s 1559
