  5. The image from the previous slide was a child who has diabetes an irregular pancreas.

  6. What does a pancreas have to do with diabetes?!?! • Diabetes is when the pancreas cannot produce insulin and causes it to shut down. • With diabetes, it is encouraged by doctors to watch their diets and try to exercise everyday. • They have been research that shows that the increase in obesity in America comes mostly from people with diabetes because they do not watch what they are doing and what they eat.

  7. Why did I choose to talk about and raise awareness for diabetes?!?! • For a very long time, I have been about finding a cure for TYPE 1 and 2 diabetes. • This has affected my 13 year old brother, Jack and that is why my battle to find a cure has grown stronger over the years. • Every day, it sickens me to watch him stick a needle in his finger and then have a machine known as the pump connected into his arm.

  8. My Mission • My family and me are always encouraging jack to do what doctors recommend. • We donate money towards the American Diabetes Association. • I am keeping up to date with research articles and news reports to help benefit Jack and anyone else who has it.

  9. Conclusion • If we start now, we can find a cure to help people like Jack get their lives back on track and help our world become a better place!!!!!
