  4. Sinkfield • The History of where Maycomb comes from. • Governor William Wyatt Bibb wanted to make the capital of Maycomb county in the centre of the county. • If he did this Sinkfield’s inn would lose business. • Sinkfield made the surveyors drunk and Maycomb was proclaimed next to the Inn.

  5. Maycomb • Existed because of government. • The town remained the same size for 100’s of years because it was far from the river. • The same families married each other. • All the people looked faintly alike. • Each family had a streak (specific characteristic)

  13. Cousin Joshua St. Clair • A cousin of the Finches. • He wrote Meditations of Joshua S. St Clair • Aunt Alexandra was proud of him. • Atticus said Joshua tried to kill the president. • It cost the family 500 pounds to get him off.

  14. Jem • Jem was amused by what Alexandra said about other people in Maycomb. • Said the Ewells had to be fine because they squatted on the same plot behind the dump for three generations.
