Born January 31, 1919 • 1938 attended John Muir High School and Pasadena Jr. college named region’s MVP in baseball • 1941 university’s 1st student to win varsity letters in four sports • 1941 graduated and played for semi-professional Honolulu Bears • 1941-1944 he served as 2nd lieutenant in United States Army • In 1944 Robinson played in the Negro League because of segregation • Robinson joined Montreal Royals in 1945, he moved to Florida to begin spring • In 1949 won National League Most Valuable Player • He retired January 5, 1957 and inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1962 • Died October 24, 1972 Jackie Robinsons life
