  1. Avon Grove High School Supplanted Math Curriculum Updating supplanted math program to transition with Pennsylvania mathematics expectations

  2. What is happening with Special Education Math at the High School? • Changes in the regular education curriculum required transitioning away from the Carnegie program. • The special education students demonstrated a need for guided instruction with modeling combined with collaboration.

  3. What is happening with Special Education Math at the High School? • Pennsylvania Keystone exams and eligible content have evolved, requiring the special education curriculum to support students needs in meeting new graduation requirements. • The special education curriculum will be more closely aligned to the regular education curriculum and are aligned with PA State Standards. • *The sequence of the courses is an overall guideline. Changes may be needed based on Individualized Education Plan goals and student needs.

  4. What are the Supplanted Math Goals moving into 2011-2012? • High expectations for supplanted math students. • Challenge supplanted students while providing specially designed instruction to support their needs in mathematics. • Incorporate district wide goals of increased opportunities for mathematical reasoning and thinking into the supplanted math classroom. • Expand course offerings to provide students with exposure to eligible content for state standardized tests and to prepare students for post-secondary needs.

  5. What resources will support our goals? • Holt Pre-Algebra • Holt-McDougal Concepts and Skills Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2 • These materials are currently used in our regular education standards classes. • AGS Consumer Mathematics
