  1. Arlington County Teen Transit Initiative 2006 Presentation to ArlingtonCounty Board October 18, 2006

  2. Your Vision • To develop long-term transit riders-- among Arlington County youth • While this is a County-supported initiative,with DES, PRCR, Schools and the Teen Network participating, the program is really being driven by Teens themselves

  3. What Have We Been Up To? • Teen Advisory Board • 19 Teens representing all four high schools • Held eight meetings so far -- learned about Transit survey, Metro and ART bus operations, marketing 101, was given County Executive presentation by Mr. Zimmerman • Created campaign logo, t-shirt, Frisbees • Participated in campaign photo shoot

Marketing • Marketing Materials (currently in development): • Youth-specific map, pertaining to teen interests and needs and “how to ride” info in a Z-Fold Format • In-school posters • Website (commuterpage.com/iride), where all information can be found and stored under personal trip planning section

  5. In School Information • Brochure racks / informational kiosks for school lunchrooms and lobbies • Each school will have at least one kiosk with the general map/brochure and a map specific to their school for detailed area-information • Flyers of detail maps will be made available at each school

  6. Events • Events: • Had table at AIM’s Teen Expo • Organizing individual school events throughout school year

  7. What’s Our Next Stop? • In-school events, organized by the teen transit members for each school • Handing out t-shirts, iRide brochures/maps and promotional items at tables/booths at lunch and during school functions • Promoting use of the information kiosks and website • Producing morning announcements for school television monitors, newsletters • Postering the schools with iRide • Promoting Metro or ART buses for school fieldtrips
