  1. Knee Brace with Feedback Senior Design Update March 29th, 2005 Presented by Zack “Jerkface” Mason Honey Bunnies: Craig “I broke the prototype” Greiner, Rich “Stoner” Stoner, Jason “Mr. Benedum” Woods Mentor: Dr. George “Big G Stet” Stetten

  2. Project Description • Problem: • Vague interpretation of flexion angle in knee after surgical procedure and during rehabilitation • Solution: • Portable digital goniometer, integrated into a soft brace with a digital output Senior Design UpdateKnee Brace with Feedback

  3. Current Design Senior Design UpdateKnee Brace with Feedback

  4. Project Status • Initial prototype design completed • 3D model of knee acquired • Parts received • Breadboard circuit constructed and in general working order • Redesign underway Senior Design UpdateKnee Brace with Feedback

  5. Upcoming Problems • Redesign of prototype • Battery and circuit packaging Senior Design UpdateKnee Brace with Feedback

  6. Personal Focus – Electronic Components • Locate appropriate components (microprocessor, LCD screen, BCD to 7 Segment Decoder, etc) • Program microprocessor • Test circuit • Get circuit into functional form for the kneebrace Senior Design UpdateKnee Brace with Feedback

  7. Personal Achievements • Circuit constructed • Programmed and tested microprocessor with PIC16C765 (actual device will use 745) using MPASM with MPLAB IDE v7.1 • Program in general working order (still a few bugs, but it basically does what we want it to) Senior Design UpdateKnee Brace with Feedback

  8. Acknowledgements Mark “Deliverables” Gartner Dr. Stetten (best professor EVER) David Weiser Group Members Senior Design UpdateKnee Brace with Feedback

  9. Work-To-Do • Get circuit working fully and integrate into new prototype • Conduct testing to adjudicate success • - accurate to 1 degree • - 3 digits (?) • - comfortable to wear/easy to use Senior Design UpdateKnee Brace with Feedback

  10. Questions • Where do babies come from? • Will Episode III be good? • What is the appeal of reality TV? • Bush is president AGAIN?! Senior Design UpdateKnee Brace with Feedback
