  14. Discuss: What do you think Colin should do? Throw all the rubbish back over and tell Kenneth what a four-eyed purple freak he is! A passive approach to bullying can mean the problem never gets solved, in fact it is likely to get worse as you will be seen as an easy target. You may now start to see the bullying as your problem that you have to deal with and start to take it out on others. Clean the rubbish up and forget it ever happened Build a higher fence to try and stop the problem happening in the future Ask Kenneth why he has so much rubbish and try to help him get rid of it in a better way Return to selections.

  15. Discuss: What do you think Colin should do? Throw all the rubbish back over and tell Kenneth what a four-eyed purple freak he is! Isolating yourself from the bully probably means you will make compromises to your life. It could also mean the bully will have to start dumping his rubbish on someone else! Clean the rubbish up and forget it ever happened Build a higher fence to try and stop the problem happening in the future Ask Kenneth why he has so much rubbish and try to help him get rid of it in a better way Return to selections.

  16. Discuss: What do you think Colin should do? Throw all the rubbish back over and tell Kenneth what a four-eyed purple freak he is! The hardest option is be assertive, but bullies are bullies often because they have rubbish in their lives that they need to deal with, but can’t without help and support. It may not always be your help and support, telling a teacher, parent or friend might be more appropriate. Would you like to borrow my brush and wheelie bin. I also have a trailer if you want to take trips to the rubbish tip? Hey Ken. Do you realise you’re dumping all your rubbish into my garden? It’s making me really unhappy. It’s NOT MY RUBBISH you big orange slob!!!! …err… really? That would be great. Thanks. Clean the rubbish up and forget it ever happened Build a higher fence to try and stop the problem happening in the future Ask Kenneth why he has so much rubbish and try to help him get rid of it in a better way Return to selections. Continue…

  17. Bullies dump rubbish on people in many forms: Having rumours spread about you Being Called Names Being ignored and left out. Being Teased Racist or sexist attacks Being pushed or pulled around Being hit or attacked Having your possessions taken and thrown Abusing people on-line or by phone.

  18. Why do Bullies dump rubbish? • They have their own problems - they may feel upset or angry or feel that they don't fit in - perhaps they have problems at home? • Maybe they get bullied themselves, perhaps by someone in their own family or other adults? • They're scared of getting picked on so they do it first • They want to show off and seem toughbecause they are afraid of what people think of them • Many don't like themselves and so take it out on someone else
