Thus…

  • The internal oscillator runs at fosc = 10 MHz

  • The XC866 system frequency fsys = 80 MHz (refer to page 2 for equation)

    • Other clock sources derived from fsys usually by dividing by 3.

    • Clock relevant for Timers is peripheral clock fPCLK = 26.7 MHz

    • Clock relevant for instructions is CPU clock fCCLK = 26.7 MHz


Baud rate calculation for 9600 baud

Baud rate calculation for 9600 BAUD

  • fPCLK = 26.7 MHz

  • PRE = 1

  • BAUD rate = 9600

  • BG = fPCLK /(baud rate x 16 x PRE) – 1

    = 26.7e6 /(9600 x 16 x 1) – 1

    = 173 = ADh
