15. P.I.E. Partners P.I.E. Partners are: Partners In Education Any club, church, business, or organization can participate PIE Partners are: Partners in Education, this program was initiated by the state of Texas to encourage community participation in the local school. Any club, church, business, or organization can participate as a PIE Partner. An example of a church already doing this is First Assembly of God, Waco, Outpost #1. 16. P.I.E. Partners What do P.I.E. Partners do? Adopt a school Adopt a grade in the school Read with students, mentor in mathematics and/or science classes, computer instruction or real world experiences When you become a PIE Partner you are adopting a school, the school then generally assigns a particular grade for your outpost to participate with. There are many forms of participation; from reading with the students, mentoring in mathematics and or science, computer instruction, real world experiences, field trip assistance as a chaperone, or like Outpost#1 does – preparing meals once a month for the entire school staff and providing free membership for one year of Royal Rangers and free a trip to Pow-Wow. In order to receive the camping trip the boy must attend four outpost meetings prior to Pow-Wow where they go through something called camping 101, which teaches them how to behave on a camping trip, how to clean dishes, set up a tent, role up a sleeping bag, and the buddy system. When you become a PIE Partner you are adopting a school, the school then generally assigns a particular grade for your outpost to participate with. 17. P.I.E. Partners Outpost involvement Talk to the school principal Any person/group can get involved Legislation actually opens this door Background check How you get your Outpost involved is really simple, any person or group can be a PIE Partner all you need to do is go and talk with the principal of your local school. I suggest that you wear your Royal Ranger uniform when speaking to school officials and ask them how you can get involved. The only real requirement for working in the school is simple just like Royal Rangers require a background check so does the schools for anyone working with the children. You might say I don’t have time to do something like this, WRONG, ask your boss, explain what you are wanting to do even ask your company to become a partner and you will be surprised how many will say yes and can we help. 18. P.T.A. Involvement The easiest way to get Royal Rangers in your local school is by joining the P.T.A. The easiest way to get Royal Rangers in your local school is through the PTA. Everyone in here probably has either a child, grandchild, nephew, and or niece in school. Just that alone give you the right to be a part of the PTA. Once you are a part of the PTA you will then begin to build bridges with the community, you will be able to announce upcoming Ranger events at PTA meetings and pass out literature to the parents at these meetings. Outpost #1 has these pamphlets printed in color that they hand out and they also have a video that they play on a projector at the display section. While this requires some work it is after all apart of our Great Commission. The easiest way to get Royal Rangers in your local school is through the PTA. 19. Religion in Public School Supreme Court recognizes students right to free expression Students however have a limited right to distribute religious material The supreme court recognizes the students right to free expression with in reason as of the First Amendment. Students can distribute religious material in designated areas and during times that do not conflict with the students learning – during class. However, another case concerning distribution of literature by students arises when the students prepare the literature themselves. With our Rangers being more computer literate than most of us where at their age they can literally design their own material to pass out to their classmates, this will also give them a sense of pride and ownership, the students free speech rights makes this form of distribution less likely to be challenged by other groups. Let me read an example of a fifth grader distributing a religious pamphlet at lunchtime:*******Read Example****************8 May non-school personnel distribute religious material to students on and off of school premises? As far as off school premises is concerned, Yes: ***********Read the general rule page****************************and give the exampleThe supreme court recognizes the students right to free expression with in reason as of the First Amendment. 21. Prayer in Public School Student led activity Example: See Ya at the Pole This is an awesome opportunity for you to get involved with your Rangers and support them at their local school, this only happens once a year and if you ask your employer if you can be a little late and explain why most will say yes and maybe even gain a higher perception about you. This is an awesome opportunity for you to get involved with your Rangers and support them at their local school, this only happens once a year and if you ask your employer if you can be a little late and explain why most will say yes and maybe even gain a higher perception about you.
