  1. Work Order How To For Staff Training + HR Staff Training + Education for Residents (especially 1st years)

  2. How to Submit a Work Order (W/O) • Go to www.denison.edu • go to mydenison(your personal login) • sign in with your username & password • Go to the “campus resources” tab (near the top/4th tab over) • Click on the “facilities services” tab (on the left) • Then click “submit a Work Order”

  3. Facilities Services:General Information • Approximately 100 members • 8 different divisions • Administration • Building Services • Central Stores • Engineering Services • Grounds • Construction & Energy Management • Telephone Services • Office Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm. Saturday & Sunday, Closed.

Divisions • Administration: • responsible for the overall coordination and oversight of Facilities Services operation and budget • Building Services: • responsible for the daily cleaning and project work in all campus buildings. • Building Maintenance: • responsible for maintaining and making minor improvements to all campus buildings in the areas of carpentry, locksmithing, painting and plumbing. Included is repair work, minor renovation, master-keying, card-access control, roofing, structural maintenance, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, domestic and sanitary water systems and a variety of related tasks. • Central Stores: • responsible for maintaining an inventory of items consumed by the university and for locating and purchasing maintenance related items not carried in inventory. Spare parts and supplies, mostly used by the maintenance staff, are stocked and purchased

Divisions • Engineering Services: • responsible for maintaining and operating electrical systems, lighting systems, power generators, heating/cooling systems, etc. • Grounds: • responsible for the 1200-acre campus, maintaining 450 acres, including 30 acres of athletic fields • Construction & energy Management: • responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising capital improvements initiated by non-Facilities Services departments and most major building renovations. This division will meet with the requesting department to develop project goals and then coordinate estimating, design and construction. • Telephone Services • All business related to telephones.

What Do They Do for Us? • A LOT!! • Fix and maintain everything on campus • Improve the buildings and facilities on campus making them even better and more useful • Clean and take care of the Denison environment which assures our health and safety • Help/facilitate/run end of the year move outs • And much much more….

  8. Who is Facilities Services Exactly? • They are active members of our community • Individuals who strive for the long term care of our campus facilities and ground • Individuals who care about our well-being and comfort and therefore dedicate their time to helping us!

  9. How Can Thank Them? • Verbally • When ever you see a Facilities Services member say hello and thank them • Write thank you at the end of your Work Orders • Leave Thank You or Appreciation notes • Eg Last year a student left kind notes on the supply closets, or if you request a work order for a certain item in your room leave a thank you sticky note! • Talk to your RA or HR and mention you want to do something for the Facilities Service Crew that works in your building!

How Can We Thank AND Help Them? • Respect your environment • Take care of your belongings and the schools belongings • Think before you do • Drunken or quick decisions can have serious impacts on both you, your peers, your environment, the school, and school employees • Breaking, damaging, or dirtying things can lead to suspension, expulsion, felonies, etc • Clean up after your self • Throw things away, not in the hallway or drinking fountains • Take you room trash and recyclables out (not to the bathrooms!) • Rent cleaning supplies from the service center when you make a mess • If you make a mistake (eg. Break something) or get sick , let your RA know immediately. Certain damages, such as broken glass, spilled liquid on the floor, or vomit are extremely damagerous. • Prevent Damages • Hold yourself and others accountable
