  2. Origin of technology parks • In 1951 the University of Stanford alloted a part of its grounds for the activity of high-tech companies. The first tenancy agreement was concluded with the company Verian Associates.This investment is the germ of Silicon Valley. • The aim of Stanford Technology Park creators was to increase income of the university by tenancy of the land and establishing the centre for advanced technologies situated near the university. • Over the next years the following entities located activity in Stanford Park: Eastman Kodak, General Electric, Shockley Transistor Laboratory of Beckman Instruments, Lockheed.

  3. Origin of technology parks The first building of the company Verian Associates in Stanford Industrial Park in Palo Alto in San Francisco. The garage in which Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard started their company in Palo Alto.

European Projects The Wrocław Technology Park has received subsidies for the projects: • „Incubator – Technology Centre, constructing a building together with infrastructure and equipment” – subsidy amount 17 367 360 zl. • „Development of the Wrocław Technology Park – stage 3. Supporting the management” – subsidy amount 372 746 zl. The Projects are co-financed by the EUROPEAN UNION, the European Regional Development Fund.

Plans for the years 2007-2013 • In 2006 Wrocław Technology Park prepared the project of park development in the years 2007-2013 entitled‘From Wrocław Technology Park to Technolopolis Wrocław.’ • The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Poland found this project as one of key projects of Innovative Economy Operational Programmewith the budget PLN 110 mln. • It constitutes a basis to start new Wrocław Technology Park investments in 2007.
