  1. PRESENTATION TO THE PORTFOLIO COMMITTEE ON COMMUNICATION PROCESS FOLLOWED IN REGARD TO SABC BOARD NOMINATIONS31 JULY 2012AS PRESENTED BY TK NGOMA

SABC BOARD NOMINATIONS REFERRAL: - A letter dated, 25 April was received from the President of the Republic, Mr JG Zuma: - informing the National Assembly of the resignation of Mr Clifford Motsepe, in terms of Section 15 (2) of the Broadcasting Act (No 4 of 1999), from South African Broadcasting Corporation Board with effect from 13 April 2012. requesting the National Assembly to recommend a candidate for appointment, in terms of Section 13 of the Broadcasting Act, for the unexpired portion of the period for which Mr Motsepe was appointed, i.e until 9 January 2015. The matter was referred to the Committee for consideration and report on 7 May 2012.

  4. RECEIVED NOMINATIONS • By Friday, 22 June 2012 at 16:00, 38 nominations were received. • Only one late application was received on Friday, 22 June 2012 at 16:30. • 39 nominations were received. • The Committee must take a decision whether or not it will consider the late application.

  5. WHAT HAS BEEN DONE THUS FAR? • All 39 CV’s were summarised • Qualifications checks were verified • Security clearance results are still pending

  6. WAY FORWARD • Shorlist candidates for the SABC Board • Interview shortlisted candidates • Report to the House
