Production Management

Production Management:

Management and control of the Ready Mix production process throughout the day-to-day business lifecycle of quality management, order and dispatch control, and production control; includes tolerance management, user notification, and various cross-functional tools

Production & Quality Management for the International Marketplace (QC-007)

Benefits of production management

Benefits of Production Management

  • Controls day-to-day activity in compliance with your company’s quality and process standard

  • Efficient and effective identification of mix design and batching trends, issues and potential causes

  • Improves confidence and data integrity without micro-managing your plant operations

  • Minimize risk and cost by controlling the quality of your products (i.e. out-of-tolerance loads)

  • Identifies plant or other product related issues so they can be addressed before they negatively impact the business

  • Improved accuracy and consistency of concrete batching

  • Management by exception and proper cumulative reporting reduces the need to inspect each batch and identifies root cause

Concrete and sample testing plan

Concrete and Sample Testing Plan

Concrete sample testing plan

Concrete Sample Testing Plan

  • Ability to more tightly manage the samples required of different products at the plant, away from the lab.

  • Helps facilitate an otherwise manual process

  • Store test plans with the frequency of testing of products

  • Notify the order taker at the time of order entry or dispatcher at the time of ticketing that a sample is required or scheduled for a particular order or load

  • Management of mix designs or concrete products by Concrete Family is required

  • Must have CS in your license.

Sampled tickets

Sampled Tickets

Sampled tickets1

Sampled Tickets

  • Manage and give indication at the plant, closer to production, when, where, and who took a sample as part of the testing plan

  • Plant operators can 1) prepare production samples for quality control at the plant when the batch is completed; or 2) may receive information returned from the job site that sampling/testing has been performed

  • The need exists to gain control over the process of concrete sampling at the plant to record the person, date, and time of a sample, while restricting access to the quality control system by the plant operator

  • User needs the ability at the time of ticketing to mark as having been sampled; controls are needed around this process

Production & Quality Management for the International Marketplace (QC-007)

Sampled tickets2

Item status

Item Status

Item status1

Item Status

  • Control the materials that currently used in production at a plant to reduce batch errors and for easier general system management

  • Entry of 4 different statuses for an item:

    • 0 = Active; should work as current

    • 1 = Inactive; product does not appear in item lookup and a user warning is for ticketing

    • 2 = Deleted; product does not appear in item lookup and not available for ticketing product; if entered directly in order entry the user is stopped

    • 3 = Incomplete Mix; same as deleted; important for import of mix designs

  • Takes into consideration the Sales Product, Alternative Item, and Constituent Product

  • NOTE: Must have BC in license

Production & Quality Management for the International Marketplace (QC-007)

Batch conformity and compliance1

Batch Conformity and Compliance

  • Tolerance and Sequence codes between COMMANDqc and Batch Computer (BCC)

  • Water on board from the BCC

  • BCC to determine tolerance values and batching sequence to determine the batching operations

  • Hydraulic pressure from the truck mixer will be measured and entered on the BCC

  • The BCC will control batching cycles and determine manual adjustments

  • The BCC will determine if the load is in tolerance

  • The BCC will send the tolerance info, hydraulic details, etc. to COMMANDseries

  • COMMANDseries will interface ticket weight information to COMMANDqc

  • Batch cycle information is reported in COMMANDseries

  • COMMANDseries will print the ticket if marked In Tolerance or O.O.T but acceptable

  • Tickets that are outside the overall tolerance level but acceptable will be automatically suspended and reviewed by the quality department

  • The batcher will add a reason code to non complying loads prior to ticket print

Batch Conformity and Compliance

  • Tolerance Code

    • Comes from QC, but also must be defined on BCC

    • Tells the tolerance (Actual VS. Theoretical) that each constituent group (item type) has across the production process

    • Sent to batch computer with ticket; BCC responsible to monitor and define tolerance per mix

    • CS determines tolerance post production…double-check

  • Sequence Code

    • Works much like the Tolerance Code

    • Tells the batch computer what order to load the materials (loading criteria)

    • Identifies in which order the constituents are loaded in the plant or truck

    • Provides more detail than the plant level constituent order (per material type)

Integration Standards

Open Standards

Oagis V9.5 (www.oagi.org)

The Open Applications Group is not-for-profit standards development organization (SDO). Our community is focused on building process-based business standards for eCommerce, Cloud Computing, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Web Services, and Enterprise Integration. Our Open Applications Group Integration Specification (OAGIS) standard is the only truly cross industry business standard in the world

ISA-95 B2MML (www.isa-95.com)

ISA-95 is the international standard for the integration of enterprise and control systems. ISA-95 consists of models and terminology. These can be used to determine which information, has to be exchanged between systems for sales, finance and logistics and systems for production, maintenance and quality.

What is commandedx1

What is COMMANDedx?

Why COMMANDedx

Instead of building non re-useable point to point solutions, build reusable interfaces to generic industry business object. Like this each application will have to build the interface once independent of the application providing or consuming the data

Standardizing the method of transporting data will decrease development and maintenance cost

Customizing can be easily accomplished with graphical tools without additional development

EDX Highlights

Data Integration: Ensuring that information in multiple systems is kept consistent

Process Integration: Linking business processes across applications

Common Facade: Front-end for all CAI applications, providing a single consistent access interface to these applications and shielding users from having to learn to interact with different applications
