  1. UN Coherence and You Gender Mainstreaming in the UN System

  2. A new e-learning course on gender equality has been developed in line with the direction of the UN Secretary-General to ensure UN Coherence in Gender Mainstreaming.

  3. This e-learning course will support UN Staff to develop strong gender mainstreaming skills and enable them to understand why gender equality is a pre-requisite for successful and sustainable development.

  4. There are 8 modules on a range of subjects relevant to the work of all UN Agencies.

  5. The course uses a number of creative learning methods to meet the needs of UN Staff with differing levels of expertise and performing different types of work. It is interactive and designed to be completed in about three hours.

  6. The course learning objectives are relevant to both development and humanitarian settings. It complements other learning tools produced within and outside the UN.

  7. The course was developed by UNICEF, UNFPA, UNDP and UNIFEM (now part of UN-Women) but is available for use by all other agencies. Each agency will incorporate the course into its learning catalogue and determine which staff should include it as a mandatory part of their capacity development requirements.

  8. The course is available now through a link on each of the four agencies’ websites.
