  3. First Draft • Due March 1, 2005 to Alisa • Rough Draft – just write it • Quick Audit – be honest and forthright • Identify college deficiencies in a) practice and in b) documentation or evidence. • State corrections that are needed and by when.

  4. Preparation to Write • Read! • The Principles of Accreditation- develop a deep understanding of what is required p. 13 • The Handbook of Reaffirmation… • Part II; Appendices A, C, D • Especially Appendix D – our canon • Review the HCC Reaffirmation Site – Bookmark it!

  5. What is to be done • A judgment of compliance with the requirement/standard • Narrative supporting the judgment • Roster of supporting documentation

  6. Three judgments of compliance • Compliance • Partial Compliance • Non-Compliance • The latter two will require action plans in the final draft. • Examples – Appendix C (2)

  7. Narrative • A compelling case supporting the judgment of compliance • Predicated on documented evidence • Summarize and interpret lengthy documentation • Evidence is a coherent, focused, cogent body of information • Evidence draws from multiple indicators

  8. Evidence must be… • Reliable • Current • Verifiable • Coherent • Objective • Relevant • Representative

  9. Documentation • Within the narrative, follow an assertion with a parenthetical citation • All documents cited in the narrative are listed again in a Documentation section • Sources of documentation p. 15, Appendix D
