SPECIAL OLYMPICS PHILOSOPHY Special Olympics is founded on the belief that people with intellectually disabilities can, with proper instructions and encouragement, learn, enjoy and benefit from participation in Individual and team Sports. Special Olympics believes that consistent training is indispensable to the Development of an individual’s sports skills.

  4. RECOGNITION BY IOC The Protocol of Agreement between The International Olympics Committee and Special Olympics International was signed by then Chairman, IOC Mr. J. A. Samaranch in 1988, recognizing Special Olympics as an Olympic movement.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS BHARAT Special Olympics Bharat has been recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports as the National Sports Federation for the promotion of Sports for the Intellectually Disabled in the Priority Category w.e.f 19th January 2006. This recognition entitled Special Athlete to receive grants on par with normal National Level Athlete. It is also a major step forward in main streaming our Athletes.
