  2. A semicolon can be used to join a string of long phrases. Examples: Ohio, Iowa, and Illinois in the Midwest; Idaho, Oregon, and California in the West; and Tennessee and Alabama in the South all have long rivers.

  3. Practice Ty, Luis, and I on the left; Lewette and Bob in the center, and Bo and Lu on the right of the stage stood to applaud.
