  8. Readings – Group Discussions • - Share your Informal Response to the Readings with each other. - Then use one or more of your discussion questions to deepen your thinking. - Be prepared to share the flavor of your group’s discussion with the rest of the class.

  14. Activity – SEdA Part II • In small groups, Using the SEdA Five Domains template, consider the implications on your school and classroom • Share your ideas with the large group • Concluding comments and reflections

Homework for July 5th • Readings (Topics and Readings sent to you by Mike and on the Wiki) • Informal response (IR) – compare and contrast the two papers by the two Davids (Chapman and Orr) • Come with a group discussion question (include at the bottom of IR) • Do Carbon Footprint (see Topics and Readings file for website) • Walk score (see Topics and Readings file for website) • Daily Reflective Journal (DRJ) • What’s in a name activity for Monday 09 July (start thinking about this…)

  16. What’s in a Name? Who says that you cannot reconsider and reconfigure your name? Or who says that the name you have isn’t the perfect one to sum up you? You make the call. Craft an artistic exploration and tribute to your name. Make this piece mostly visual, with any number of words that you choose to add. Focus on color, image, shape, texture, and arrangements of pictures to create a symbolic portrait of your name. Be prepared to explain your work of art to the class in a short presentation.

  17. Remember to include both your given and surname.Possible inspirations include the following: • What is your full name? • What are your nicknames? Your initials? • What are all the possible spellings of your name? • What is your name’s origin and link with family ancestry? • How has your name appeared in songs? If your name were music, what kind would it be? • How is your name used in media? (movies, TV, advertisements, etc.)

What is your name in other languages? • What colors, shapes and images come to mind when you hear your name? • What famous people share your name? • How did your parents choose your name? • How do you feel about your name? • History of your name? • Be creative and original and look for a sustainability angle to your name : )
