  1. Instead epigraph Dear friends. I want to show you my next album. It is a photo story on the performance of Verdi's opera "Nabucco" , which was presented at the foot of Masada, the Dead Sea, Israel, and associations caused by this event. Once I decided to go to this performance, I remembered unwittinglythat my friends talked about such events. And they said something like this: • I try not to go to the tragic performances. I have enough horror in everyday life. At the performances I want to have fun and relax. • What are talking about the music, none needs it! The percentage of people listening to classical music is neglectable. • The only reason why you go to concerts is since you tell about it afterwards. In fact, like all people, you get real fun from physiological satisfactions, such as food, sleep, sports, dancing and sex. • What is the point of looking at portraits of people who lived many years ago, when now you can make great photos of your contemporaries? michaelbank@bezeqint.net

  2. 06. 06 2010 Nobuko - The Tragedy and Beauty in Life, Music and Painting

  3. We go out of our home in Jerusalem and head to Masada

  4. This city with its tragic history is very beautifulin its own way

  5. We left the city. Ahead of beautiful landscapes, remembering the bloody events.

  6. A lot of fences and walls. They cause no good feeling or thoughts.

  7. Dead Sea. Maybe it was named like this due to its beauty.

  8. Мецада в Интернете: From the Internet: Josephus writes that before Ben Ya´ir had finished they ``all cut him off short and made haste to do the work...´´ They ``gave the longest parting kisses´´ to their wives and children and then slew them. Then they cast lots to choose 10 men to dispatch the remainder. Again they cast lots to select one to kill the survivors. With this done, the lone Jew ``ran his sword entirely through himself.´´ Details of the mass suicide and the oration were provided later by two women and five children who hid in the underground caves and lived to tell the tale. Dark, the opera will start soon

  9. So we drove up to Masada. All the sad was behind us.

  10. Six performances were given.

  11. More than six thousand spectatorsvisitedeach performance. Over three thousand people came from abroad especiallyto listen the opera.

  12. This is Masada, which remembers one of the most tragic events in the Jewish history. The stage was positioned at the spot where the Roman Army had been located.

  13. The opera about the events that took place in Jerusalem and in Babylon about 2000 years ago is over. We must return to Jerusalem now.

  14. We returned late at night in complete darkness. During the whole journey back home, I heard in my eras the beautiful music by Verdi. Involuntarily the question arose. Why all the great composers wrote beautiful music based on very tragic stories?  And then I arrived to the following conclusion. In order to emphasize the tragedy of the situation, or an oldness, something very beautiful can be shown along with the tragic content. This is true for any form of art. Few known examples of painting are shown below.

  15. In my opinion, this is one of the most convincing examples of compulsory combination of beauty and tragedy. Surrounded by beautiful angels, beautiful Maria predicts tragic fate of her beautiful son. Perhaps that is why the greatest works of literature, painting and music are tragedies.Want to enjoy art - look for the tragedy. See you next year on Masada, where the Aida opera performances will be given.
