  1. AMVERSEAS Status and Plans Francis Bringas NOAA / Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML), Miami, FL Francis.Bringas@noaa.gov AMVERSEAS Development: Caridad Ibis Gonzalez NOAA/AOML, University of Miami / CIMAS, Miami, FL Caridad.I.Gonzalez@noaa.gov

  2. AMVERSEAS Applications System • MET Observations Logger • AutoIMET Data Logger • AMVER Reporter • TSG Data Recorder • XBT Data Recorder • Transceiver Interface • SEAS Console • PC-Watchdog NOAA / VOS (Marine MET Obs.) NOAA + USCG (Search and Rescue) NOAA / SOOP (Ocean Obs.) AMVERSEAS System

  3. SEAS MET Obs. Logger: features • User friendly MET Obs. Logger • Direct data transmission via email, internal (SMTP) or default system email client • ‘Show Report’ utility for direct access/correction of MET bulleting • SEAS console utility: Remote command system (via Iridium SMS service) • Collection of manual (SEAS MET Obs. Logger) and automatic (SEAS AutoImet Data Logger) observations

  4. SEAS MET Obs. Logger: US/VOS requirements • Contain all SOT – VOS recommended improvements (11504-10-OBS-WIGOS-OSD-MAR-SOT.pdf) • All formulas and algorithm used to calculate dew point and relative humidity are taken from WMO-No. 8, 7th edition, 2008, Part I, Annex 4.B • IMMT-V formatted message to support the VOSClim program and MQCS-VII • Recruiting country ‘Not Assigned’ option in support to the ancillary pilot project • Meta-data report generation. Capability to transmit all data and meta-data in binary format • Current version (v9) compatible with Windows 7

  5. AMVER Reporter • The AMVER Reporter has been updated for compatibility with Windows 7 • This code was adapted to admit unlimited number of waypoints • Tests have been conducted to ensure the correct processing of data

  6. TSG and XBT Data Recorders • TSG Data Recorder has been completed and is in operation in ships of the SOOP. • New features include the ability to read metadata (such as instrument calibration coefficients) automatically. • XBT Data Recorder: Under Development.

  9. SEAS Server for Data Distribution • XBT and MET observations are received in the SEAS server. These data are decoded and stored in a database. They are also submitted to the GTS in real-time • XBT data is submitted to the GTS in ASCII (JJVV) and BUFR • MET data is submitted to the GTS in ASCII (BBXX) • AMVER reports are created and submitted to the US Coast Guard

  10. SEAS Server for MET Data Distribution • Work is underway to receive and process and distribute MET observations AMVERSEAS and TurboWin • Data transmitted from ships will be decoded and submitted to the GTS in real-time in ASCII (BBXX) and BUFR • In order to accomplish this several tasks must be completed first: • Software to decode TurboWin data files • Work with current BUFR template for MET observations (currently not operational) • BUFR bulletins will only contain as many metadata as we receive
