Internal Moderation • The purpose • Checking tasks and schedules • Checking assessment judgments • The process • Have your task checked (possibly) by another teacher if you are in a bigger dept or a teacher of the same subject in a neighboring school • Have your assessment judgments checked by strip marking, cross checking, using benchmarks • Keep a record of these meetings and establish benchmarks (your school may have a record sheet)

  2. External Moderation • 8 samples for Achievement Standards • 4 samples for Unit Standards • Moderation plans can be negotiated up until the 25 of Feb • One addition the schools have only just found out about is that Technology 90050 will be added to all moderation plans

Moderation important dates 1 August final date to confirm entries for externals 15 September final date to confirm withdrawals from externals 24 November final date for internal results to NZQA Internal results confirmed by 7 Dec All these dates are NZQA dates your schools may have dates which are earlier than to ensure they can process the data in time to meet NZQA’s deadlines.

  8. MNA School Systems Check • Schools have been notified if having MNA systems check this year • Reports will be sent to BOT chairperson and PN/Principal • Format - PN 90min interview - 30 min with HOD’s (3 or 4 chosen by the school)
