  2. Class A Fires • Examples: wood, paper, etc. • Extinguish with water, or class A extinguisher.

  3. Class B Fires • Examples: oil, gas, petroleum products • Extinguish with a class B extinguisher. YOU CANNOT USE WATER!!! • WHY?

  4. Class C Fires • Electrical Fires • Steps to put out an electrical fire: • 1.) Must turn off electricity. • 2.) Extinguish with a class C extinguisher.

  5. Class D Fires • Examples: Combustible metals • Least common fire of the four. Must extinguish with a Class D extinguisher.

  6. If all else fails • Keep a combination fire extinguisher around to extinguish the fires!!!

  7. Procedures in case of fire. • 1. Contact teacher, don’t try to extinguish on your own. • 2. Follow fire drill procedures and exit the building.

  8. How to extinguish a fire? • 1. Determine what class of fire that it is. • 2. Remove pin • 3. Spray extinguisher at the base of the fire. Why? • 4. While spraying use a sweeping motion.
