  1. SPI 0807.T/E.1 to 2 Engineering Design Process Bell Work Feb 06, 2013 1) A game company is working on a new computer game. Their programmers are now writing the software. What engineering design process (EDP) step is this? 2) After the software is written, they will hire gamers to play it looking for errors in the software. What EDP step will that be? STEP 1: Identify and Research A Need STEP 5: Modify and Retest STEP 2: Develop Possible Solutions STEP 4: Test and Evaluate STEP 3: Make A Prototype 1

  2. SPI 0807.T/E.1 to 2 Engineering Design Process PLAN • 1) Discuss objective and bell work • 2) Ask about birthdays • 3) Complete EDP activity using the Lego kits • See next slide for more details • 4) COPY IN YOUR AGENDA: • No Homework:  Silly Thought  I have a twin brother; he's identical, but I'm not. 2

  3. SPI 0807.T/E.1 to 2 Engineering Design Process Activity Mission: Use the EDP and a Lego kit to design and build two motorized devices. Need: build a motorized toy car with 4 wheels that can drive up an inclined board at 3 different heights. 1st height: 6 inches, 2nd height: 8 inches, 3rd height: 10 inches Solutions: Use the provided Lego kit booklet 9686-B, Prototype: Follow the 13 instructions shown in plan 11B Test the car on the board at 3 different heights. Record your results! Change the wheels and test the car again in the same manner STEP 1: Identify and Research A Need STEP 2: Develop Possible Solutions STEP 3:Make A Prototype STEP 4:Test and Evaluate STEP 5: Modify and Retest (Time Permitting):Go ahead & build plan 12B. Then test it the same way. 3
