Matt Were dating until Riley found out that Nola and Matt secretly liked each other. Dane Lizette Riley

  8. FILM CAST Marnie Fitzpatrick Dane Harris Ashley Tisdale would be a good actress for the character of Marnie. She has blonde hair and she acts very well in other films as a fashionable attention hog who wants to be popular. She is skinny and tanned just like Marnie is explained in the book also. I chose Matt Lanter for the actor of Dane Harris. He is tall, fit, dark haired and has shining blue eyes just like Dane does. He is very good looking. He acts in other shows as the popular cocky boy so I think he would be a great choice. Ashley Tisdale Matt Lanter

  9. FILM CAST Nola James Sawyer Lee Nola James is a shy, timid girl who is very friendly. I chose Hilary Duff for this part because she has a very friendly face and acts shy very good in movies. She is fair skinned. Nola is blonde and green eyed. I chose Johnny Pacar for the part of Sawyer. Sawyer is a blue eyed blonde skater boy. They describe his face as slim and structured and his body as slim but built. I think Johnny would be the perfect fit. Hilary Duff Johnny Pacar

  10. FILM CAST Lizette Levin Mr. Robertson Lizette is a tall blonde with blue eyes, and is described as the prettiest girl in school. They say she has the nicest smile and perfect body structure. Blake Lively would be a good fit for Lizette. She is tanned and very pretty. Mr. Robertson is described as old, white haired and a witty teacher who knows how to make the class laugh. I think that Steve Martin would be a great actor for this role because he is funny and acts very good at funny roles. Blake Lively Steve Martin

  11. WRITING STYLE

  12. DESCRIPTIVE WRITING 1. Marnie nodded , her heart somersaulting like an aspiring Olympic gymnast. (p. 259) 2. But she knew that in about five more minutes the water temperature was going to leap from lukewarm to bone-chilling cold, which meant the odds of shriveling up into nothingness were slim at best. (p.1) 3. She trudged into her bedroom and threw on a cute pair of purple plaid lounge pants and a ribbed pink tank that she had scored on gojane.com (p.4) 4. Even though Dane was still as dazzling as ever- his aquamarine eyes sparkling, his cheeks tinged with the slightest bit of pink- he appeared to have camped out at Grier’s house (p.6) 5. Together, they gazed out into space silently while the overweight truckers high-fived and guzzled beer out of purple plastic cups while there adams apple moved up and down. (p.211)

  13. WORDLE

  14. PLOT

  15. CLIMAX CHANGE The climax of the novel “Friends close, Enemies Closer” was when Marnie got caught at the party with Sawyer ( her secret crush ) while she was still dating Dane. Nola got Marnie caught out of revenge for betraying there friendship. When Marnie got caught, she said that they were just sitting there and nothing was happening. If Marnie would not of got caught then Dane wouldn’t of broke up with her. Dane only broke up with Marnie because he did not want to hurt his image as popular “major”. If Marnie did not get caught, then I think she still would have been in the “IN” group and still would have been with Dane. I also think that Marnie wouldn’t have changed her snotty ways. That could of changed the whole story because then Marnie could have went to the prom with Dane and I think that Nola and Marnie would have stayed enemies and not became friends again.

  16. NEWS REPORT

  17. CONFLICT

  18. CONFLICT CONFLICT: Marnie stopped associating with Nola because Nola was in the “OUT” group and Marnie became part of the majors in the “IN” group. EVENTS: • Marnie started hanging and becoming one of the majors and Marnies new friend Lizette told her that if she spoke to Nola again that she would be kicked out of the group. Marnie stopped talking to Nola to stay part of the “IN” group. Nola was very upset about it and wanted to seek revenge on her. • Marnie did very mean things to Nola like hide her gym clothes and everything just to stay part of the group.+ • Nola made everyone catch Marnie and Sawyer at the party • Marnie tripped Nola with her lunch tray in front of everyone • Lizette and Marnie get in a huge fight that ends there friendship as a ‘major’

  19. SOLUTION SOLUTION: Nola ignores everything that Marnie does to her because she thinks if she ignores her and doesn’t react then she will stop. Once Marnie realizes at prom that the “majors” were not really her friend at all , she apologizes to Nola. DIFFERENTSOLUTION : A better solution could have been that Marnie stuck up for herself and told the ‘majors’ that Nola was her friend and stood up for Nola because maybe then Nola could have been part of the group OR Marnie could have listened to her mom, and apologized to Nola after every little thing she did. Everyone warned Marnie about the “majors” but she didn’t listen.

  20. THEME

  21. TITLE I think the title “Friends Close, Enemies Closer” suits this book because Marnie used Nola as a friend when she needed someone, but right when Marnie became popular she betrayed and became very mean to Nola. The title explains the conflict between the two main characters. Nola acted nice towards Marnie even though she did all the means things to her just because she felt threatened by her because she became a enemy.
