  1. Cedar Valley Middle School “Make a difference, Leave a legacy” 8th grade first day lesson plans PERIOD 8 TIME: 2:05-2:35

  2. PROWL expectations in the locker rooms As eighth graders, not all of the students will be taking physical education.  However, many office referrals come from bad choices students make while in the locker room, so it is worth discussing. Lockers:  It is important that students put their belongings in their locker and lock it.  Many students report items being stolen from the locker room and upon investigation it is determined that the student(s) left their belongings out on a bench instead of taking the time to put them in a locker.

  3. PROWLexpectations in the locker rooms Horse-play: Often times, students get excited while playing games in PE.  This is wonderful!  We want PE to be a class in which students can expend energy and learn teamwork and leadership.  Students must understand that when they come into the locker room, they need to calm down and not engage in horse-play.  What starts as just friendly “playing around” all too soon turns to aggressive behavior that can end in a fight.  If this happens, both students involved will get an office referral and SAC.

  4. PROWLexpectations in the locker rooms Teasing:  Teasing is something that can happen in both the boys and girls locker rooms.  The expectation at Cedar Valley is that no one will engage in teasing, however, if you see or hear this happening in the locker room, or anywhere else on campus, it is your responsibility to report it to an adult.

  5. PROWLin the locker roomsActivity:  In pairs or groups, students come up with 3-5 things they can do if they see someone being teased at school?  Share their ideas with the rest of the class.

  6. PROWLin the locker rooms Personal best:  Change quickly and get to class on time.  Do not take part in horse-play or teasing.

  7. PROWLin the locker rooms Respectful & responsible:  Don’t touch other’s belongings, keep your hands to yourself, and always put your belongings in a locker.

  8. PROWLin the locker rooms Only appreciations:  Encourage your classmates.  Help others when you can.

  9. PROWLin the locker rooms Work ethically:  Report horseplay/teasing to coaches immediately.  Do not touch others’ belongings.

  10. PROWLin the locker rooms Lifelong learner:  Be a positive athlete who encourages and supports others so that they can do their best.
