  2. Venmar • Venmar is a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning company • Two Canadian offices: Saskatoon and St-Léonard-d'Aston, Quebec • Specialize in manufacturing commercial HVAC units • Their main focus is on efficiency and energy recovery methods

Problem Description • Enthalpy wheel not always needed: • Most effective for large temperature differences • Wheel causes pressure drop and consumes energy • Accurate flow rates measurement needed: • Cost effective means of measuring airstreams is needed • Integrated into control system to control air flow

  5. Objectives • Bypass the enthalpy wheel: • Determine increased flow rate due to decrease in pressure drop • Determine annual energy savings due to reduced fan speed • Flow measuring device: • Develop cost effective means of measuring airstreams • Requires an accuracy of 8% • Ensure compliance with existing control system
