  1. HHFW XMP runs Jan. 20-21, 2003 NSXT Physics meeting Jan. 27, 2003

  2. Jan. 20 Conditioning XMP • Used He plamas • Raised Power to 5.4 MW • Used -7m-1 phasing (Co-) • Did not use unusual plasmas • Antenna voltages in excess of 15 kV were achieved • Last run limited to around 12 kV • Good electron heating observed • Peak temperatures > 2.5 KeV • Noise on Magnetics still a problem

  3. Jan. 21 Early Heating XMP • Established target for early heating • Good outer gap at 50 ms • Diverted at ~ 75 ms • Applied ±7 m-1 phasings (Co, Ctr, Balanced) • Temperature rise slow • Eventual central MHD collapses central Te • Could be good CD targets since longer peaked phase

  4. +7 m-1 phasing 1.8 MW, nel = 1.0 x 1015 Early heating shot -7 m-1 phasing 2.4 MW, nel = 1.5 x 1015

  5. P = 3 MW ±7m-1 phasing
